Buy Formaldehyde 40% in IBCs, Road Tanks & Bulk – Industrial Chemical Intermediate
Rotterdam Chemicals Group supplies Formaldehyde 40% for use in resin production, wood-based panels, adhesives, coatings, textiles and chemical manufacturing.
Formaldehyde 40% can be supplied internationally in IBCs, road tanks and bulk quantities, depending on the required methanol content, stabilisation, specification, order volume and destination. Product, safety and transport documentation is available with each shipment.
What is Formaldehyde 40%?
Formaldehyde 40% is a clear, colourless aqueous solution containing approximately 40% formaldehyde by weight. Formaldehyde is also known as methanal and is identified by CAS number 50-00-0 and EC number 200-001-8.
Commercial formaldehyde solutions are often stabilised with methanol to help reduce polymerisation during storage and transportation.
Formaldehyde is an important chemical building block used in the production of resins, adhesives, binders, polymers and specialty chemicals. Because of its hazardous properties, controlled handling, suitable ventilation and appropriate protective measures are required.
Resins & Adhesives
Used in the production of urea-formaldehyde, phenol-formaldehyde and melamine-formaldehyde resins.
Wood-Based Panels
Used in binders and adhesives for plywood, particleboard, medium-density fibreboard and related wood products.
Chemical Manufacturing
Used as an intermediate in the production of polyols, chelating agents, plastics and specialty chemicals.
Disinfection & Preservation
Used in certain industrial disinfectant and preservative formulations, subject to the applicable regulations and authorisations
Coatings & Textiles
Used in selected coatings, crosslinking systems, textile-finishing agents and resin formulations.
Paper & Industrial Processing
Used in selected paper-treatment, impregnation and industrial production processes.

We supply Formaldehyde 40% internationally in IBCs, road tanks and bulk quantities.
Formaldehyde solutions should be stored in suitable closed equipment under controlled temperature conditions. Low temperatures may cause cloudiness or paraformaldehyde formation, while excessive heat may increase vapour formation and pressure.
Our logistics team supports customers with product documentation, dangerous-goods paperwork, export documentation, customs coordination and suitable international transport arrangements.
What is Formaldehyde 40% used for?
Formaldehyde 40% is mainly used in resin and adhesive production, wood-based panels, chemical synthesis, coatings, textiles and selected industrial formulations.
Is Formaldehyde 40% the same as formalin?
Formalin is the common name for an aqueous formaldehyde solution. Commercial formalin typically contains approximately 37–40% formaldehyde and may contain methanol as a stabiliser.
Why is methanol added to formaldehyde?
Methanol helps stabilise the solution and reduces the risk of polymerisation during storage and transportation.
Can Formaldehyde 40% crystallise?
The product may become cloudy or form paraformaldehyde deposits when stored below the recommended temperature. The correct storage temperature depends on the formaldehyde concentration and methanol content.
Is Formaldehyde hazardous?
Yes. Formaldehyde requires strict exposure controls, suitable protective equipment, adequate ventilation and handling in accordance with the applicable Safety Data Sheet.
