Detergents
Used as the primary surfactant in powders, liquids, and paste detergents.
Rotterdam Chemicals Group supplies high-purity Linear Alkylbenzene Sulfonic Acid (LABSA), a widely used anionic surfactant acid in household, institutional and industrial detergents. Our LABSA is REACH compliant and offered in technical grade for global use. Available in drums, IBCs and bulk formats, we ship worldwide from our Rotterdam facility with full documentation and compliance support.
LABSA (CAS 27176-87-0) is a brown viscous liquid produced by sulfonation of linear alkylbenzene. It is the most widely used synthetic surfactant in the formulation of detergents and cleaners due to its high active content, excellent foaming, and rapid biodegradability. LABSA is neutralized to form Linear Alkylbenzene Sulfonate (LAS), the active ingredient in most powder and liquid detergents.

We ship LABSA globally from our Rotterdam facility with full compliance documentation and export support. Available in palletized and bulk packaging, our logistics team ensures safe and timely delivery.
What is the difference between LABSA and LAS?
LABSA is the acid form, which is neutralized with alkali to produce LAS, the active surfactant in detergents.
Is LABSA biodegradable?
Yes. LABSA and its neutralized form (LAS) are readily biodegradable under aerobic conditions.
What precautions are needed when handling LABSA?
It is corrosive and should be handled with proper PPE and neutralized before disposal or further use.
Do you offer neutralized LAS as well?
On request. Contact us for tailored formulations and derivatives.
Contact our technical sales team to discuss concentrations, packaging preferences, and export requirements. We offer full documentation and flexible supply from our Rotterdam warehouse.
