Paints & Coatings
Thinner for alkyd-based paints, varnishes, enamels, and industrial coatings.
Rotterdam Chemicals Group supplies Mineral Spirits D60, the most widely used grade of aliphatic hydrocarbon solvents. Known for its balanced evaporation rate and higher flash point compared to D40, Mineral Spirits D60 serves as a versatile, low-odor solvent for paints, coatings, inks, degreasing, and industrial maintenance. Produced from petroleum distillates and refined to minimize aromatics (≤0.1 wt%), it is trusted as the industry-standard mineral spirit across global markets. We deliver worldwide from Rotterdam with full SDS, TDS, and COA documentation.
Mineral Spirits D60 (also called ShellSol D60 or Exxsol D60) is a dearomatized white spirit solvent composed primarily of C9–C12 hydrocarbons. Compared with D40, D60 has a slightly higher boiling range (~160–200 °C) and a higher flash point (~46–55 °C), making it suitable for a wider range of industrial and commercial applications. It is widely regarded as the industry-standard grade for white spirits.

How is D60 different from D40?
D60 evaporates more slowly and has a higher flash point than D40, making it safer to handle in many industrial settings.
Is Mineral Spirits D60 flammable?
Yes. It is a flammable liquid, though its higher flash point offers a safety margin compared to D40.
Can Mineral Spirits D60 be used in paints and coatings?
Yes. It is the most widely used grade in the paint and coatings industry due to its balanced properties.
Is it odorless?
No. It is classified as low odor, but a mild solvent scent may still be present.
